Photonics Christmas Tales

Photonics Christmas Tales is a presentation competition open to all Optics and Photonics students in the UK and Ireland which will be held online on December 17th. This can be a great opportunity to present your research, improve your communication skills and network with other Photonics students. A cash prize of £500 will be given to the best talk and additional prizes will also be available for other notable presentations.
Eligibility criteria:
- Full-time student affiliated with a university/research organisation in the UK or Ireland
- The submission should be related to the fields of Optics, Photonics or Optoelectronics
- The participant should be a main contributor in the submitted research
- Work that has already been published or presented at a conference is also accepted
Selection criteria:
- Quality and clarity of the presentation
- Effectiveness in highlighting the novelty and importance of the results obtained

Registration will close on October 31st.
The shortlisted participants will be notified two weeks before the event, to give you time for finalising your presentation.
Each participant will be given a 12-minute time slot for their talk, followed by a 3-minute Q&A session during which both judges and other contestants can ask questions and discuss the presentation with the speaker.
The winners will be announced at the end of the event and on our social media.
